Leadership club of Randolph Children's Home receives grant
Randy Sweeney, Chautauqua Region Community Foundation (CRCF) executive director, left, and Lisa Lynde, CRCF program officer, right, present a grant for the Timber Wolves to Arielle, Timber Wolf secretary, and Sherry Schaeffer, Timber Wolf advisor. Arielle helped prepare the grant application.
The Timber Wolves, the leadership club from Randolph Children’s Home, received a grant for $400 from the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation’s John Edward McLaughlin Family Fund. The funds will be used to purchase yard tools to perform clean-up tasks for Randolph community residents.
The youth at Randolph Children’s Home are encouraged to do community services projects to help others.
In October, the Timber Wolves volunteered to paint the floors of the Cattaraugus Community Action and Lighthouse Soup Kitchen in Salamanca.
Two times a month, they paint toys for the Toymakers of Randolph, which go to children in distress. They help at St. Susan Center, a soup kitchen and the Chautauqua County Humane Society, both in Jamestown. They have volunteered to help with the restoration of parks and cemeteries. They also serve dinners at benefits.
The McLaughlin Fund is designated for projects that improve the quality of life in the Randolph Community.
